Millions of rupees earned during Malmas fair

100 kg of Khaja was sold in a day, whereas in the Malmas fair, it increased 4 to 5 times. Because after getting the GI tag, the branding of Khaja has increased further. Because of which an income of lakhs of rupees was generated during the Malmas fair in a month. Due to this, the family of dozens of artisans is also running. Cardamom is used along with flour, maida, sugar to make this sweet. Eating Khaja is very healthy along with being tasty.

Silav Bazar falls between Rajgir and Biharsharif. The history of Khaja sweets here is very old. Nalanda has been a historical place from the beginning. That’s why tourists keep coming here from abroad. For this reason, the popularity of Khaja reached abroad. In 2015, Nitish Kumar gave industry status to Khaja manufacturing. After which the Government of India gave GI tag to Silav’s Khaja. This helped the businessmen as well as increased the employment opportunities. Due to which the artisans do not get free time now.

Not only this, now keeping in view the increasing demand of the customers, Khaja will be sent to other places except Bihar by the Department of Posts and Khadi Village Industries. Kali Shah’s family started the online sale of Khaja which goes to countries like London, America, Australia, Dubai, Paris, Indonesia, etc. This is the reason why its demand is always there.
